Peter and Margie moved from the Netherlands to Canada in 1980
Situated on 169 acres, their farm is located 15 minutes from the centre of Bathurst New Brunswick just off route 11 in quiet, rural North Tetagouche. About a 100 of the farm’s acreage is an undeveloped mix of hard and soft wood forest, which gives ample opportunity for trail riding. The rest is hay fields and pastures.
After years of cows and milking they decided to expand the horse part of the operation, they welcomed boarders and several horses were added to their existing group for winter and summer day camps and riding lessons.
Margie loves the Western discipline but an occasional English rider slips into the riding ring and herd. Since the owners live on the premises there is continued supervision. Margie is an EC certified instructor and runs the lesson- and camp program and besides regular lessons she has been working with students from the local Middle School with a special program for students who have shown dedication and improvement in their studies.
Peter makes sure all hay is harvested and fences and buildings are in good repair, he also makes sure that the yard is snow free and the horses can access their paddocks year round.
Tetagouche Stables hosts a yearly schooling show at the end of August; giving owners and students a chance to show their improved skills.
